The BirdDog BobbyBand brings a fresh and energized show to the stage utilizing the classic 3 piece format of guitar, bass, and drums. In July 2009 Reno Mussatto and Gary Whitehead (both of the Smokin' Torpedoes) winners of the IBC 2007 and 2008 joined forces with master guitarist Bird Dog Bobby to create a trio that is attracting attention everywhere they preform.

Drawing on more than 100 years of combined professional experinece they bring a mature and exciting dimension to music whether playing their unique versions of blues standars or their own original music.

They call there style Blues Rockin'. They are also entered in the 2009 IBC at McWells with nine other bands. Watch out for Bird Dog, Reno and Gary - they are going to be tearing things up all over Florida soon. Loyal Fans Please look out for these Boys they are something to see.

Bird Dog Bobby began playing the guitar in 1966. He traveled extensively throughout the US during the 70's and 80's and relocated to Florida from Kansas City in 1989. Shortly thereafter, he formed the Honey Hounds and performed at many of the major R&B venues in the South. With the Honey Hounds he recorded 3 projects, Jump the Fence and Gone! in 1993, I Ain't No Pedigree! in 1996, and Woof! in 2001. He was awarded "Best R&B Act in the Tampa Bay Area" two consecutive years by the areas major music magazine. He has opened shows for Albert Collins, Koko Taylor, Gatemouth Brown, Delbert McClinton, John Mayall, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Ronnie Earl, Little Charlie and the Nightcats and many others. A regular at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida, his fiery guitar style and smooth vocals reflect his many years in the entertainment business and his playing and songwriting skills are showcased on his CD's and videos.

Gary Whitehead has been providing solid bass lines for the last 40 years. In the 70's he toured Europe extensively with the Adventurers based out of Marseilles, and later with French Lick, headquartered in Paris. When working in the recording studios in England he gained the reputation of being a precise and imaginative player. Returning to the states he met and played with Randy Meisner (the Eagles) in California. Later, in Colorado he was a member of Delanie and the Curb Feelers and played extensively at the resorts at Telluride. While in Durango he played with the zydeco band Flambeau. With such varied influences as big band swing, funk, hard rock, zydeco and rhythm & blues. Gary knows exactly how to drive the bass to get the song cookin'!

Reno Mussatto started his professional career in 1968. He studied music at the University of Kansas in the early 70's and by 1975 had relocated to Austin, Texas. This was at the beginning of the hottest Texas blues scene in many years. In Austin he had the opportunity to perform with such blues greats as Stevie Ray Vaughn, Albert Collins and Koko Taylor. In the country vein he played with Willie Nelson, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Kinky Friedman and the Geezenslaw Brothers. His recording career includes working at Willie Nelson's Pedernales Studio and NBC Studios in New York City. You can hear his playing on commercials for Lone Star Beer, Wick Fowler Chili, the Hormel Meat Company, American Biker TV, and numerous TV shows for NBC. He has worked with various artists on their albums. As a drummer and singer he has traveled the US extensively. Some of the venues he has played include the Palomino Club in Hollywood, Billy Bob's in Ft. Worth, Texas, the Calgary Stampede in Canada, the Sturgis South Dakota Motorcycle Rally, BB King's and the House of Blues, Orlando, Florida. Six world tours with Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show and a recent showing at the International Blues Competition in Memphis, Tennessee help contribute to his "world class" performing skills.
